We found this place on the way to Mulgoa Rock Lookout. We didn’t brave the walk until after i gave birth because of the steep hills. Our first time going was when Brooke was 2 weeks old.
The walk is a peaceful 5.1km trail through the Blue Mountains National Park. It is located on the eastern side of Nepean river and in the Penrith region Mulgoa. The closest place for food and water is Mulgoa Shops.
To get to the lookout you have to drive down 2km of dirt to get to the trail head. There is plenty of parking available. When you get there, you have the option to either go left towards Mulgoa Rock or right towards Rileys Mountain. We usually take 30 minutes to walk this.
As you are walking, stick to the well used fire track. There are other tracks leading elsewhere but if you follow the main track, you will have no problems. We take Brooke in our baby carrier and she is only 7 months old, but if you are taking kids please be cautious as there are no fences around cliff edge and no room for them to run around.
The walk back is just as good. We are normally exhausted and keen for a drink. Rileys mountain is one of our favorite walks.
