Oh what a year it has been! Today our baby girl turns ONE. The 26th February 2016 was the day we became a family; It was truly the best day of our lives. Happy First Birthday Baby Girl.
Watching Brooke grow has been both an amazing and also a scary journey. Amazing because of all the joy and happiness she has brought us. Scary because we dont know what to expect next; she learns new things every day, we’re scared she will be smarter than us soon.. haha. One day shes smiling, next she’s giggling, sitting up, spitting baby food in our face, rolling around all over the floor like a pig in mud, crawling and polishing the floor with every outfit she wears, walking, kissing and giving us a hi-5. The list doesn’t stops and even as her parents we never know whats around the corner. Is she going to start saying more words soon, or be potty trained? Throw toys at us. We really cant wait to see what else she has to show us.
It has taken me a while to write up this blog post because it’s just so hard to put into words what having a baby does to you. This whole year, my life has completely changed and I really want to ‘pause’ it for a while to be able to soak it all up! I thought I would use today to look back at some of our memories over the past year!
From the day I found out I was pregnant to finding out we were having a baby girl to Brooke deciding to come out three weeks early; Nothing can truly prepare you for life with a newborn. Right at this exact moment a year ago I was getting induced and we were preparing ourselves physically and mentally for what was about to happen.
I was very lucky with my two and a half hour drug free labour in the water! Everything went to plan and in no time our darling 6 pound 13 ounce baby was in our arms.
Bringing her home was soooo exciting! I had dreamt about this moment for ages; thinking about having our little doll at home, feeding her on my bed at all hours of the night, bathing her. It was just super special for me. Having all these responsibilities at 18 seems like it would be extremely hard but we both pulled through each and every day, everything came naturally to us once she was born. Watching each other as parents looking after Brooke, was truly special as we both learnt so much more about each other. I had never felt that close to my best friend! Our love grew even more stronger as time went on.
First Easter; 2016. She was only a month old so we didn’t get up to much. I wrote abut more about it in another blog post.
Mothers Day 2016; We went to a local park and had a picnic. It was great to also see mine and Cameron’s mum as well. She would always sleep no matter where we were or what we were doing.. haha.
She was like a little doll; we were blessed to have such a good baby. We got lots of sleep which meant the days were a lot easier for us.
We Christened our baby on my Dad’s Birthday when Brooke was 6 months old. We had a little family gathering at the local church down the road. It was a beautiful day for all our family to see us. By this stage, I started feeling so proud of what we have accomplished. Cameron has been working to support us and we have grown so much as a family. We had gotten over the tough hurdles and got stronger, and i’m sure all our family could see that.
Bub’s First Christmas!! We went up to Queensland with my family for Christmas and a family Reunion. We did a 14 hour road trip, but enjoyed every minute of it!
12 Months Old! She has grown into such a big girl.
Watching Daddy Skydive!! Since writing this post, We have moved into our first home which you can see here. Having a baby is definitely a lifesaving experience and I would honestly not want it any other way.
These are the memories We want to hold onto forever. We adore you so much. I hope you had an amazing First Birthday Baby Girl and we can’t wait to watch you grow older.
Love always; Mummy & Daddy
